Trade in your old instrument as your skills develop.

the-violin-shop makes sure you get the most from your purchase. Any of our instruments will be accepted anytime later as a trade in towards another instrument or bow from our selection. However, the new purchase must be of a greater sales price than the original purchase. We'll credit 100% of the instrument's original sales price towards the upgrade given that the instrument remains in its original and acceptable condition.

What condition is acceptable?

Normal wear to bridge, strings, fingerboard; minor scratches and minor open seams are acceptable. Repairs or damage such as cracks, broken edges/corners, deformation, varnish damage, etc., will void the trade guarantee or reduce the trade value at our judgment. To cover the costs for new strings and minor repairs, a reconditioning fee of €75 for violins/violas and of €50 for bows will be assessed. We'll hold your old instrument for the return period of 30 days to make sure that you are fully happy with your upgrade. All shipping fees related to the trade are at the buyers' expenses.

Commission sales.

We are pleased to offer to sell fine old violins, violas and bows on behalf of our customers. Our staggered commission rates range from 5% to 15% depending on the instruments sales price. Discounts are available for violin makers and dealers wanting to sell their instruments through our site. Inquire for details.
